​Liant deux problématiques actuelles du Nunavik, soit le surpeuplement des logements et l’accumulation de conteneurs maritimes, ce projet aborde le conteneur comme étant une façon de développer des habitations transitoires pour les Inuit  afin de contrer la pénurie de logements dans les villages nordiques du Québec. Cette approche exploratoire vise à documenter cette nouvelle tendance de construire des habitations économiques et écologiques. En analysant les différents précédents répartis sur le globe, la recherche a pour but de déterminer si cette alternative est viable dans un climat nordique. De ce fait, le projet tentera de démontrer que cette nouvelle forme d’architecture peut répondre à certains défis associés à l’habitation au Nunavik.

The Nunavik faces two issues related to its overpopulated dwellings presently. On one side there is strong demand for more housing facilities and secondly there is an accumulation of maritime containers being brought from the south to the Nunavik territory. The present project links the two issues and provides transitional housing for the Inuit to the shortages housing in Quebec northern villages. This exploratory approach tends to document a new way to build economically and ecological housing unit. By a look around the globe to see what was done elsewhere, the scope of the essay was to analyze if this alternative housing is viable in a Nordic climate. The project will demonstrate that this new architectural form of housing may respond to the creation of transitional housing while reusing and recycling containers of the northern village.
