Une session intense et stimulante !
La journée-colloque orchestrée par Habiter le Nord québécois, sous la présidence d’honneur d’Olivia Ikey, a permis à plusieurs chercheurs et étudiants d’échanger avec de nombreux participants autour du thème des enjeux d’aménagements appropriés et significatifs pour les communautés inuit (programme ici). Parmi les moments saillants : des présentations par cinq conférencières et panelistes autochtones dont celle de l’architecte Harriet Burdett-Moulton, une conférence spéciale par Gérard Duhaime, des présentations de collègues issus de plusieurs disciplines, universités et organisations inuit, et la contribution de plusieurs étudiants-chercheurs. La salle comble comportait deux expositions : sur le nouvel ouvrage Imaginer : le Nord en 50 projets, et sur l’habitat nordique (dirigée par Patrick Evans). An Intense and Stimulating Session!
The day-long session orchestrated by Living in Northern Quebec, with Olivia Ikey as honorary president, had several investigators interact with numerous participants on the theme of appropriate and significant development issues among Inuit communities (program here). Highlights included presentations by five indigenous speakers including architect Harriet Burdett-Moulton, a special lecture by Gérard Duhaime, the participation of colleagues from a variety of disciplines, universities and Inuit organizations, and contributions from several students. The packed room featured two exhibitions: excerpts from our new book Imagining: The North in 50 Projects, and Northern housing models (directed by Patrick Evans).
