Eleven Young Inuit and Innus at the School of Architecture from March 23rd to 26th, 2017

From March 23th to 26th, six young Innus from Uashat mak Mani-utenam and five young Inuit from Inukjuak and Puvirnituq (secondary 4 and 5) visited the School of Architecture of Laval University to learn more about architecture. Their program was quite busy: they took a class on vernacular architecture and participated to an architectural design workshop; they visited the university's campus as well as the offices of our partners ABCP architecture and Hatem+D; they toured Wendake to visit the First Nations Hotel-Museum; and they visited the exhibition "C'est notre histoire" at the Musée de la Civilisation. On their way back home, the Inuit youngsters made a short stop in Montréal to visit the Avataq archives with the conservators.

Several students of the School of Architecture as well as Living in Northern Quebec's partners were mobilized to gather ideas with them and the efforts have paid off. Today, the 11 youngsters return home with their heads full and grown up by this experience where mixing opportunities and discussion where put forward.
